The story of Mayana Mexican Kitchen begins with Norberto Rodriguez, a true visionary and pioneer in the St. Louis restaurant industry.
Norberto immigrated to St. Louis from Mexico in 1950 when he was only 17 years old. After spending years working his way up in the St. Louis restaurant industry, he finally fulfilled his life long dream of opening his own restaurant in 1964. It was a modest diner with only 18 seats but the crowds gathered around the block and eventually Norberto began integrating the traditional Mexican food that he grew up on into the menu.
